SUMMARY:Summit 2017- Economic Development Seminar
DESCRIPTION:SUMMIT 2017 is an educational opportunity of high relevance to economic and community development with an emphasis on the continued sustainability of the southwest Michigan region. SUMMIT 2017 will attract executive-level attendees from the tri-state area as well as policy makers and those who influence policy makers.\n\nWhat is the SUMMIT 2017 Platform? Empowering Business Leaders\n\nWhy YOU Should Attend? The SUMMIT 2017 platform seeks to achieve certain objectives that will reflect and further promote economic development as follows:\n\n Develop and encourage innovative business practices. We recognize that today's businesses and business leaders must be prepared to operate in a highly competitive global environment. Attention to emerging technologies and innovative business practices are critical in giving small businesses the edge they need in today's dynamic economic climate.\n\n Leverage community resources. We seek to promote our assets\, such as agriculture\, tourism\, light manufacturing\, natural resources\, educational venues\, and proximity for maximum returns.\n\n Build businesses already within the state. Our goal of regional sustainability is foundationally dependent upon current businesses succeeding. We are invested in our local talent and provide opportunities for the diversification and growth of business.\n\n Continue to develop entrepreneurial opportunities. Programs like SUMMIT 2017 are about economic and entrepreneurial development\, and have been at the forefront of our efforts for over ten years.\n\n Create connections amongst entrepreneurs\, innovators and established employers. Our trade is to promote the establishment of relationships and to encourage cooperation and collaboration.\n\n Promote local sourcing\, local spending and utilizing local services. The Chamber's "Think Local" campaign is designed to encourage economic sustainability through local spending. This year's slate of speakers will demonstrate the local impact as well as the far-reaching effects of similar campaigns and business models.\n\n Support statewide tourism. We value the economic impact that tourism revenue provides Southwest Michigan. We are committed to providing awareness to visitors that Southwest Michigan is a great place in which to plant roots\, launch businesses\, and raise families.\n\n Reinvent\, renew and recharge Michigan businesses. As evidenced by our mission\, we have set out to reenergize our community and help fuel the revitalization of Michigan.\n\n\n\nThis year's keynote speaker will be Bob Fish of Biggby Coffee. Other speakers include Tamara Davis of Michigan Small Business Development Center and Ron Kitchens of Southwest Michigan First.\n\n\n\nTickets are $55 for Chamber members and $65 for non-members.
