Historical Association of South Haven: Spring Open House

Pine Knoll

Many of the vintage cottages of South Haven that were built in the early twentieth century have been torn down or renovated to a degree beyond any visual clue of their original structures. Helen B. O'Rourke, owner and caretaker of Pine Knoll since 1968, decided to make a scale model of the cottage. Helen believed it was paramount to keep a record of the building and to preserve a glimpse of the history. The cottage was built in the late 1800's and owned until 1939 by William Wagner. One of Wagner's first jobs was a customer for artists and animals for the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.
